This is a fast paced, totally ludicrous, "Boy's Own Adventure" story with a scarily competent fish-out-of-water used to pivot the plot on. We have the poets and sculptors (especially Monsieur Bartholdi (Statue of Liberty) and Monsieur Eiffel ( Eiffel Tower). The copy I have is an advance reading copy, so I don't know if this was the way the final version of the book was laid out. This story has murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and love. It is well-written, fast-paced, emotional, and tells a story that would have been unbelievable if it weren't true. This one is an authentic manual and a teacher in itself. Makes you want to take up the same kind of work.
